Showcasing Bursa’s historical and cultural heritage through waqf artifacts, the exhibition will remain open to visitors until September 30.
As part of the Waqf Artifacts Inventory Project carried out by Vakıf Katılım, the “Bursa: Dreaming of Istanbul” exhibition began welcoming visitors at the Mimar Sinan Gallery in Üsküdar on Friday, September 4, 2026. Featuring 87 photographs selected from among the thousands included in the three-volume Bursa Waqf Artifacts book, the exhibition will be open to art aficionados until September 30, 2026.
Commenting on the initiative, Mehmet Ali Akben, Vakıf Katılım's CEO, said: “We view the Waqf Artifacts Inventory Project not merely as an initiative to document listed structures, but as a comprehensive responsibility to understand and preserve our cultural heritage and pass it on to future generations. On the heels of our efforts in Hatay and Konya, we are delighted to bring to light, through our work in Bursa, the rich heritage this ancient city has inherited from the waqf civilization. We believe that our exhibition, bringing together selected photographs of the historic structures featured in the inventory, will offer a different perspective on Bursa’s cultural heritage and foster greater awareness of our waqf heritage. I would like to thank the General Directorate of Foundations and all our stakeholders who contributed to making this valuable exhibition possible.”
